Pine needle basket from local gallery in Old Town, Mazatlan. Nidart specializes in local handcrafts and supports the local art community. Pine needle basketry has been a tradition of Native North Americans since the pre-Columbian era. This basket is naturally colored using no dyes and reflects the Seri tradtion of exceptional basket weaving. This lovely open work basket has no handles but is easily graspable by its patterned edges. The coiled method used in its manufacture ensures a tight seal and a level surface on which to carry food and drink. Makes a lovely wall display when paired with the next basket in our collection. Located in Old Town across from the Peralta Theater, Nidart is a nest of local artisans and showcases their work on the ground floor of a renovated century-old home.
